Bataan

Bataan rings a chord in the heart of every Filipino. It is a symbol of democracy and freedom – a memorial to the gallant Filipino-American defenders of Bataan who fought decisive battles that delayed the timetable of the well-equipped and better trained Japanese Imperial forces, and changed the course of history in the Pacific. The province is a peninsula rich in culture, tradition and history. It is known for its historical value, being the last bastion of democracy.  The famous Mt. Samat Shrine is a national landmark and a favorite destination of local and foreign tourists.

The province is endowed with vast agricultural, economic and tourism opportunities.  Farming, fishery and forestry are the leading sources of livelihood of the Bataenos.  Rice remains as the principal crop while hog raising, and poultry raising are the promising livelihood activities for the province.  Bataan serves as the industrial heartland of Central Luzon with the presence of big industries like the Petron Bataan Refinery and economic zones namely the Bataan Economic Zone, Petrochemical Industrial Park and the Hermosa Special Economic Zone. Outside these zones are various micro, small medium enterprises engaged in food processing and non food manufacturing.  The province is also blessed with vast natural resources and scenic tourist destinations. Its pristine beaches are located along the western side of the province, the municipalities of Morong and Bagac, where local and foreign tourists can experience a close encounter with nature and ultimate form of relaxation.

Bataan is a province faced with a welcome challenge. It is on the verge of becoming both an extensive industrialization hub and a tourist haven which may well be the equivalent of the dynamic force it exuded in its historic past.

Galing Bataan

Galing Bataan! is a  project which basically aims to develop a common brand to serve as the seal of quality and excellence among local manufacturers in Bataan . It  also serves  as a  significant tool for enrolled manufacturers to be recognized not only in the local market but in the international market as well.

The seal appears on the packages of food products of accredited Bataan food manufacturers and on tags and labels of non food manufacturers. Enterprise enrollees belonging to the non food sector undergo product development while those engaged in food processing undertake packaging and labeling design development.

To date there are 23 enrolled SMEs in the program.
