Bulacan

The Province of Bulacan is a first class province located in the Central Luzon Region, lies north of Manila, and part of the Metro Luzon Urban Beltway Super Region. Bulacan was established on the 15th day of August 1578. It has 569 barangays from twenty-one (21) municipalities and three (3) component cities. 

Bulacan prides itself for its rich historical heritage. The province figures prominently in the Philippine History.  Many national heroes, political figures and greatest National Artist were born in Bulacan. The province is the home of the "Three Republics", namely the Republic of Real de Kakarong de Sili (1896), the Republic of Biak-na-Bato (1897) and the very first Philippine Republic (1899–1901) proclaimed in the historic Barasoain Church in Malolos. 

Today, Bulacan is among the most progressive provinces in the Philippines. It is known for its vast natural resources and its people are highly educated, enterprising and industrious. Bulacan is well-known for the following industries: Gifts and Holiday Decors, Jewelry, Pyrotechnics, Processed Foods (i.e. Meat Products, Sweets and Delicacies), Specialized Garments, Furniture, Aquaculture, High-Value Crops, Leather and Marble/ Marbleized Limestone.

Bulacan is now called the “SME Haven of Central Luzon” and the “Cooperative Capital of the Philippines.”

Tatak Bulakenyo

“Tatak Bulakenyo”, a quality seal of Bulacan-made products is already gaining recognition and recall nationwide.  The program which covers food and non- food products is increasingly making its position in the market.  To continuously sustain the objective of the program and promote entrepreneurship, SMEs are consistently being assisted thru product development, capability building, marketing and financial assistance. 

This program has been successfully implemented through the concerted effort of various government agencies, the Provincial Government of Bulacan – Provincial Cooperative & Economic Development Office (PGB-PCEDO), Department of Science and Technology thru the Packaging Research and Development Center (PRDC), Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Bureau of Food and Drugs, and other local government units in the province and the private sector through  the Bulacan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI).

One of the flagship programs of DTI is the One Town One Product (OTOP).  Under the program, a package of assistance is being given to MSMEs which aim to develop and promote products locally and internationally.  Presently, Specialized Garments – Gowns and Barongs of Pandi have created a market niche and are now recognized nationwide.  In addition, the Pastillas of San Miguel, Jewelry of City of Meycauayan, Pyrotechnics of Bocaue, Sukang Paombong, Chicharon of Sta. Maria, Gifts and Holiday Décor of Calumpit and Bags of Bustos are becoming famous in the country.
